Specialized Accreditation

Degree programs seeking reaccreditation must adhere to the following review/approval process prior to the submission of their self-study report (and other accreditation materials) to their discipline-specific accrediting body:

Ä¢¹½tv Specialized Accreditation Process

Specialized Accreditation Process for Educational Units Undergoing Reaccreditation:

  1. Department + College Approval: Finalize the self-study and secure departmental and college-level approvals.
  2. OIE Institutional Review: Submit the self-study to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE). Allow at least 2 weeks for review; OIE coordinates institutional and subject-matter review.
  3. Feedback & Revision: OIE shares feedback with the educational unit. The unit revises the self-study and returns the updated version to OIE before the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) final review.
  4. OAA Final Review: OIE forwards the revised materials to OAA for final review, approval, and routing.
  5. Submit to Specialized Accreditor: Following institutional approval, submit the self-study and notify OIE once submitted.
  6. Close the Loop: Send OIE the site-visit report, final action letter, follow-up requirements, and next review date.

Executive-Contact Protocol:

  • The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) and the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) serve as the institutional points of coordination for all executive-level accreditation requests.
  • Specialized accreditors typically require approval or participation from the institution's Chief Academic Officer (CAO). At Ä¢¹½tv A&M,
the Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer.
  • Please route requests for the Provost's signature, Provost-level approvals, and meetings between accreditors and the Provost through email to OIE and OAA. This process enables OIE and OAA to coordinate the request, confirm institutional requirements, and ensure appropriate preparation and scheduling.
  • For matters involving the Chancellor or Chief Executive Officer, OAA will coordinate all Chancellor signature pages, required executive approvals, and any related scheduling.

Changes in Accreditation Status

The Office of Academic Affairs should be notified immediately regarding any changes in accreditation status. The university’s Accreditation Liaison shall be responsible for informing SACSCOC of any pending or final actions by a USDE-recognized accrediting agency to suspend, revoke, withdraw, or terminate a program’s accreditation and to impose probation or an equivalent status.

Institutional Information Guide for Self-Study Reports

As part of its institutional responsibility, Ä¢¹½tv represents itself accurately to all U.S. Department of Education (USDE) recognized agencies with which it holds accreditation. Moreover, Ä¢¹½tv and its programs provide to each accrediting agency consistent descriptions regarding the university's purpose, governance, programs, degrees, diplomas, certificates, personnel, finances, and constituents. To ensure this consistency, programs seeking specialized accreditation should refer to the following information about developing their self-study materials:
