Meet Our keynote speaker
Dr. T. Chase Hagood is the Vice Provost for Student Success at the University of Utah, where his leadership is shaped by his own experience as a first-generation college graduate from rural, working-class America. His transformative educational journey fuels a lifelong commitment to expanding access and improving outcomes for all students.
Nationally recognized for both his scholarship on early America and his leadership in higher education, Dr. Hagood has driven major institutional reforms that advance access and academic excellence. At the University of Utah, he has championed system-wide policy changes to remove barriers to higher education across the state, in service to Utah’s 3.4 million residents. His leadership has redefined the undergraduate experience through initiatives such as Navigate U, a shared-responsibility framework ensuring every student receives coordinated support from day one to graduation and beyond. He also led the campus-wide implementation of EAB Navigate and related data technologies to democratize information, foster collaboration, and strengthen student outcomes.
Working in partnership with faculty and staff, Dr. Hagood has built coalitions to reimagine General Education and create pathways for first-generation, low-income, and minoritized students. His approach integrates 21st-century pedagogies, high-impact support practices, and robust academic programs—equipping students not only for career success but also for meaningful lives of purpose and resilience. His career reflects a deep conviction in higher education as America’s most powerful force for social mobility, public good, and positive change.
